Greetings West Palms Conservatory Families,

We are now in the last trimester of the 2022-2023 school year and have a packed schedule of activities and events. Booster is hosting a Seuss-tacular Saturday event tomorrow, April 1st; we have introduced many students to their last Meet the Masters Artist for this school year, Jacob Lawrence; our WPC basketball teams are actively playing games with hopes to make the playoffs; and Trimester 3 Extended Learning will begin soon.

At West Palms Conservatory, we are here to develop students to have the academic skills and social-emotional health to be confident, empowered, lifelong learners who have an appreciation for the arts. To demonstrate the work our students are achieving in Visual and Performing Arts, we will be hosting our Annual Art Show on April 26th, where families can complete a gallery walk of all the fantastic artwork students have created throughout the school year. Also, we will have our Spring Performances and Elective Showcase toward the end of May. Finally, we will have a Westside Story performance for families in June.

In terms of academics, our students continue to grow toward meeting our school-wide goals of increasing the percentage of students at or above grade level by 15% in Math and 20% in reading. According to our latest assessment results, 28% of our students are at or above grade level in Math, and almost 70% are at or above grade level in reading. However, for math, 48% of our students are less than one grade level below.

As we approach California State Testing, our staff and students are working hard to reach our school-wide goals by providing targeted interventions and support through Guided reading, i-Ready, and small-group instruction. Please encourage your children to do their very best on the State Test and be at school each day approaching the test and during testing. It is their opportunity to show off what they have learned and positively represent West Palms Conservatory.

I look forward to your continued support as we work together to develop students to have the academic skills and social-emotional health to be confident, empowered, lifelong learners who have an appreciation for the arts. The remainder of the school year includes Coffee with the Principal on 4/19 @ 8:00 AM, 5/10 @ 4:00 PM; WPC School Site Council and ELAC on 4/20 @ 2:30 PM, 5/18 @ 4:00 PM; WPC Booster Meetings on Zoom 4/4 @ 4:30 PM, 5/2 @ 4:30 PM. Finally, Sixth Grade Promotion will be held at High Desert Church on Hook Blvd on June 12th.

Kind regards,

Sean Redmond, Ed.D.
WPC Principal
